Installing Oracle JDK in Ubuntu (12.04+) Ubuntu stopped hosting Oracle PPAs (Personal Package Archive) because of license issues, so now Oracle Java can’t be installed from Ubuntu repositories.

Jan 30, 2018 These instructions are intended specifically for installing Oracle Java 8 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I’ll be working from a Liquid Web Core Managed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server with Apache and PHP installed, and I’ll be logged in as non-root user.
I needed to install oracle jdk 1.6 on lubuntu 12.04 and none of the provided PPA's worked. Didn't want to mess with binary installers so i just used add-apt-repository ppa:eugenesan/java and then replaced 'precise' with 'oneiric' in synaptic.

Add the webupd8team Java PPA repository in our system and install Oracle Java 7 using following set of commands. During installation installer will prompt for accepting license agreement.

Verify Java Version

After successfully installing Oracle Java 7 on Ubuntu & LinuxMint systems using above step, Le’ts verify installed version of Java on your system using following command.

Step 3: Setup JAVA Environment

Webupd8team is providing a package to set Java 7 as default with environment variables. Install this package using following command.
